The M10

Designed from the outset for electric propulsion, assembled in Normandy by Millikan Boats.

Millikan Boats was founded in Normandy in 2022, after a first prototype, the M.9, was tested at sea and refined with boaters met at European boat shows. The M10 is the result: a 30-foot catamaran whose architecture, entrusted to Vincent Lebailly Yacht Design, was optimised for energy efficiency rather than adapted to it.

It cruises silently at 8 knots, reaches 12, sleeps six and burns no fuel. The rest of this page lists what it is made of.

When I founded Millikan Boats, I wanted to offer a new approach to boating, showing that it is possible to combine pleasure, freedom and respect for the environment.

Energy

The roof is the fuel tank.

Twelve solar panels, 28 m² in all, cover the roof and the two side wings that fold out at anchor. They feed a 48-volt system built around two Victron lithium (LFP) battery banks of 20.5 kWh each, managed by a Victron Cerbo GX with Smart BMS and MPPT charge controllers.

  • 6.4 kWp of solar power with the wings, bifacial technology
  • 41 kWh of batteries as standard (inboard), 61 kWh in the Long Range version
  • Unlimited range at 5 knots in full sun; up to 10 hours at 8 knots, over 80 nautical miles
  • Shore power charging through a Victron inverter/charger

Range figures are Millikan data and depend on sunshine, sea state and load.

Propulsion

Two ways to drive it.

Inboard

Two 20 kW Bellmarine DriveMaster Evo motors on shaft lines, two rudders and a wheel at the helm. 12 knots top speed, 8 knots cruising, 41 kWh of batteries (61 kWh in Long Range). Suited to day trips as well as cruises of several days.

Outboard

Two 40 kW ePropulsion X40 motors with 60 kWh of batteries. The motors tilt up, which reduces draft and makes shallow anchorages and manoeuvres easier.

At the helm

A 16-inch Garmin display gathers navigation, energy and the state of the boat on one screen. A kite sail is offered as an option to add wind to the sun.

Aboard

From bow to swim platforms.

Forward lounge seen from the saloon, cushions and table, sea ahead
  • Forward lounge. U-shaped seating with loungers and three storage chests; optional table, convertible into a full sunbed.
  • Saloon. L-shaped bench and folding table for six, 12 m² of floor and 2.10 m of headroom. With the enclosures closed, the lowered table becomes a 140 × 200 cm bed.
  • Galley. Two induction hobs, sink, 70-litre fridge and a three-drawer unit, facing the sea.
  • Cabins. One in each hull, 130 × 200 cm beds, wardrobe, portholes, USB reading lights (Week-end and Cruising packs).
  • Head. Toilet with black water tank, shower with electric water heater, basin, 220 V socket.
  • Aft. Two 1 m² swim platforms, ladder, storage in each transom. Electric windlass at the bow.
